Dylan's First Shiner! Poor little thing. He tripped over the dog and landed face first on the corner of our kitchen bench. This happened during dinner on the night before his first day of pre-K.
How pitiful is that! He was quite happy when I told him he could tell all his friends about having to fight off bad guys!
Dylan chillin before leaving for pre-K! This is his normal routine of watching Ninja Turtles. This is a step up from last year where they vegged in their jammies and Mommy and Daddy tried to stuff zombie kids into their clothes. Totally not a fun way to start the day! Now, all kids must be dressed and teeth brushed before coming downstairs to watch cartoons. Now I just have to try to figure out how to get some breakfast down my son....who never wants to eat in the morning!
Dylan did have a great first day and week at pre-K. He is a little disappointed that he hasn't gone on a field trip yet, but that is coming soon. His second day of school he got in a bit of trouble for being disruptive. He has a friend in class and they tend to not listen and talk and goof off. I bought him a new Hulk poster for his room and told him if he had another bad report it was coming down. So far so good! No more bad behavior.

One week after Dylan started pre-K, it was Maryn's turn for Kindergarten. Here she is totally ignoring Dad who is trying to capture the moment instant by instant. This one would be titled: Maryn with Pop-Tart!
Here is Maryn posing in my classroom! Still full of confidence for the day to come.
Doesn't she look like such a big girl here! Can't even believe it. Everyday she is saying things like: "Look what a big Kindergartener I am!"
Here is where the confidence dissipates a touch. She had visited her classroom about 3 times before school officially started and was very comfortable about going there. What she was not prepared for was the fact that she gets there a little bit before school starts so she has to go directly to the gymnasium until the bell rings for class. This is all a very organized process from an adult standpoint, but to her it was extremely overwhelming! The gymnasium was loud and filled with big kids running around playing like "boys" of all things! All in all she was very brave. Thankfully, Mrs. Henderson took her under her wing and made her feel very comfortable. On her second day of school she asked me if the lady in white would be there to stand by her. I was relieved to see that she was! She has an amazing heart for small kids!
This was Maryn right after school. The first day totally rocked and she could not be more happy about her new engraved (thanks room mom) book bag!
I have to end with Maryn's first choice of after school clothing. I make her change as soon as we get home. She was upstairs about 20 minutes and this is what she came down in. I guess after being in a uniform all day one needs to express a little creativity!
